Making Good Things Together

The Bell Tower Community Café is motivated by the desire to celebrate goodness in our community. On Friday nights we open the doors and share the goodness: good food, good drinks, good music, and good people. It’s a creative and sustainable partnership between community residents, Winnipeg businesses, local musicians, non-profits, Winnipeg Harvest and Westminster Church––people from all walks of life making good things together.

We imagine something different than the ordinary food bank: it’s a community café experience, with live music, nutritious food and great coffee and tea. Some people come for a food hamper, and others come just for the meal and music.

Located at 745 Westminster Avenue in Westminster Church, we feel our close connection to the West Broadway and Wolseley neighbourhoods. We also welcome people from across Winnipeg. About 175 people gather every time we open the doors, and between 80-100 households get a food hamper each Bell Tower night.

How can you help?

We believe that food security in Winnipeg starts around a common table and a shared meal. Food has the ability to bring people together in creative and powerful ways. We believe everyone has something to offer at the Bell Tower Community Cafe. As a result, this has been a community-driven experience.

We need your help to fund the next year in the life of the Community and Café. We are excited to be moving into the 5th year of the Bell Tower and to continue building community in the West Broadway and Wolseley neighbourhoods. Our annual budget is approximately $15,000 to fund the supply of compostable plates, cups, bowls and bags and an honorarium for our co-ordinators, who recruit and orient volunteers, organize the distribution of food hampers, plan the logistics of serving a meal each café night and continue the development of the Café.

Here are three ways you can support the Bell Tower!

We always extend an open invitation for you to come, enjoy a meal and join the community. All are welcome.

Second, we are a growing café and are always in need of more volunteers who are able to give of their time. Rorie McLeod Arnould and Meaghan Pauls can help you find your place to volunteer at the Bell Tower. Send them an email at to learn more.

Thirdly, your financial donations support the abundant community that is making good things together at the Bell Tower Community Café. Donate on this page or at (donate through Westminster United Church and select Bell Tower Community Cafe in the dropdown menu).
